Water kefir is a lightly fizzy, fermented drink made by culturing natural cane sugar water with "water kefir grains" — small symbiotic clusters of bacteria and yeast that digest the sugar over 24–48 hours to make delicious flavors. It's dairy-free and milder than kombucha. We tastefully enhance our water kefir with with flavors from responsibly sourced herbs, botanicals, and/or juice.

Kefir “grains” are small, translucent, gelatinous clusters — not actual grains of wheat! They consist of aggregates of bacteria and yeast living and working together in a symbiotic colony. They metabolize sugars in their surroundings and ferment them into delicious flavors making a lightly fizzy, tangy drink full of healthy postbiotics like dextran. Many water kefir bacteria and yeast have been associated with probiotic benefits.

"Kefir" is pronounced "keh-FEER" (sounds like "ka-FEAR"), with the stress on the second syllable. You'll also sometimes hear "KEH-fur.” However you pronounce it, it is always delicious.
Kefir derives from the centuries old Turkish word “kefiy,” which means “good feeling”—which is what many people over the years get after drinking kefir!

While “kefir” often is commonly used to describe “milk kefir” and there are several commercial dairy kefirs available, our water kefir products are completely dairy free.

In our town of Oxford MS, we do not have recycling services for glass. Glass is actually very energy-intensive to recycle and recyclable plastic is practically more sustainable. We chose to sell our product in high-quality, recyclable clear plastic so you can see the gorgeous color and enjoy, with minimal impact to our environment. (Our bottles are made of food-safe, BPA-free PET (plastic #1) or HDPE (plastic #2) for our caps.)

Our water kefir is not pasteurized, which means that the cultures keep working in the bottle. Each bottle will vary slightly: sometimes sweeter, sometimes drier, and sometimes more fizzy!
